What’s your design background?

Amrin: I’ve spent my entire design career at Häcker, working across a wide range of projects throughout Dubai. Over the years, I’ve developed a design philosophy that balances aesthetics with daily function, always shaped by the lifestyle of the people using the space.

How would you describe your kitchen design style?

Amrin: I’d describe it as flexible but refined. I’m drawn to clean, contemporary lines and warm, earthy textures, but I always prioritise what suits the client best. Some prefer minimalist elegance, others want something more layered. Either way, my goal is to create a space that feels deeply personal and timeless.

Which materials or finishes are inspiring you at the moment?

Amrin: Right now, I love working with travertine, soft stone, and matte wood finishes. These materials create an understated luxury – they’re elegant but not showy. They bring natural texture and warmth into a space, which really helps it feel lived-in without compromising on style.

Where do you draw your design inspiration from?

Amrin: A mix of sources, really. High-end villas, architectural design, and platforms like Pinterest all play a role. I also get inspiration from Dubai itself, including how people live here, the pace of life, the fusion of international styles. It all informs the choices I make in layout, material, and functionality.

What sets your design process apart?

Amrin: I always start by asking the right questions. How do you cook? How do you entertain? What kind of storage do you need? These insights shape everything from the layout to the choice of finishes. I also pay close attention to subtle functional details, including hidden storage, intuitive work zones, layered lighting. These things elevate the space beyond just looking good.

Tell us about a recent project you’re proud of.

Amrin: One that stands out is a bespoke kitchen I designed for Jamie Morgan in Al Bararri. It included a striking island that doubled as a dining space, as well as a dedicated wine zone tailored to the client’s collection. It’s a great example of how luxury and everyday practicality can go hand-in-hand. The client wanted something bold but liveable, and I think we achieved exactly that.

Amrin: Think about your lifestyle first – how you move through the space, how Dubai’s climate might impact your materials, and how the kitchen fits into your home as a whole. Don’t feel pressured by what’s trendy. Focus on what you need and what brings you joy. That’s where good design really starts.
